The Institution's Council of Management decides the overall direction and poilicy of the Institution.

The Council of Management is responsible for the adminstration of the ICES core committees, namely: Commercial Management Practices Committee, Education Training and Membership Committee, Finance and General Purposes Committee, and Geospatial Engineering Practices Committee.

The Council of Management is also responsible for the adminstration of the other ICES panels and committees, namely: Disciplinary Committee, Future Policy Working Group, Graduates and Students Committee, Health and Safety Working Group, International and Regional Affairs Committee, Select Committee and the Website Working Group.

The core committees meet each quarter and report to the Council of Management. Other committees and panels meet as business requirements dictate.
