Training
Guidelines In order to become a Corporate Member of the Institution, a candidate must be able to demonstrate that he/she has appropriate qualifications and sufficient experience to gain this professional status. There are four main requirements for this grade of membership:
A series of Training Guidelines, which encompass the training objectives, have been prepared by the Institution to offer guidance to Affiliate, Graduate and Associate Members on the training and experience requirements and standards expected from a candidate for Corporate membership. Candidates applying for the Corporate Member grade are expected to satisfy a range of training and experience objectives, and to explain how these have been achieved. An Affiliate, Graduate or Associate Member is able to complete the training objectives either individually or through an ICES Approved Training Scheme. A candidate or, if required, the Institution, will appoint a supervisor or mentor who will be able to offer guidance and support. A Graduate, Affiliate or Associate Member who has completed all of the requirements for the training objectives and has an ICES accredited qualification or other approved cognate degree, together with a minimum of three years relevant experience, may apply to upgrade to Corporate membership. For those who do not complete the training objectives, the relevant experience requirement for upgrade is a minimum of five years. The achievement of the training objectives in itself will not guarantee that a candidate's application for Corporate membership will be successful, but should ensure a sound and broad base of training and experience on which the candidate can build the professional and managerial competencies required for this grade of membership.
