In order to achieve Member grade, candidates need to gain experience in a range of core subjects in order to acquire the necessary skills appropriate to a qualified civil engineering surveyor. The Institution produces training guidelines on these core subjects and applicants must demonstrate that they have covered the objectives and have achieved the required Approved Experience before they can upgrade to Member grade. Companies can tailor these guidelines to produce a training scheme, which can be approved by the Institution as providing appropriate training and experience. These schemes help to provide a structure to the training and experience of younger staff as well as allowing progression through the grades of membership in the Institution. The following companies now have training schemes approved by the Institution: We are in discussion with a number of other organisations that are preparing schemes for approval. If you would like information on setting up a training scheme, or are working within a participating organisation and need to find out more about becoming an ICES member, please contact Paul Brown, Education and Training Officer on +44 (0)161-972-3114 or email [email protected] The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has approved the Institution's training scheme for candidates working towards Member grade as being eligible for CITB grants. Therefore, companies with members in the process of obtaining their Approved Experience are eligible to apply for a grant from CITB, provided that they are a CITB registered company. |
