Construction
firms find trouble in the storm
A
new survey from the Met Office has revealed that nearly all construction
firms cite weather problems as being more troublesome than supplier,
labour or planning issues. Over half of those surveyed find they are
increasingly suffering as the weather conditions worsen in the UK, while
a quarter have changed working practices over the past few years to
account for these poorer conditons. Over a third of those surveyed lost
more than 10 days as a result of weather-related delays, with 16% losing
20+ days. Despite the apparent magnitude of its effect, only 17% of
construction firms take weather into account when planning and two thirds
said they would not change their use (or lack) of weather information
services.
The
Met Office offers five-day forecasts by fax, text message and online.
They also provide NEC Monthly Summaries containing all monthly weather
information required for NEC specifications. For more information visit
