ICES Scotland at the launch of the royal charter
Colin Seath, ICES Scotland 's deputy chair, travelled to London on 2 September, representing the ICES Scotland committee at the formal launch of the royal charter and to help host the event. A large number of industry guests were invited to the event, so it was important that ICES Scotland was officially represented, and Colin took the opportunity to promote the activities of the institution in Scotland.
20 October 2009: Surveying for river models, Glasgow University, 7pm for 7.30pm
Robbie Cowan of JBA Consulting presenting. To be held in the Department of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow. The talks are held in the East Quad of the main university building on University Avenue. Tea and coffee will be available before hand. The talk is free and non members are also welcome to attend.
4-5 November 2009: Roads Expo Scotland, Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh
Road Expo provides a comprehensive forum for highways and transportation professionals to seek out new suppliers, discover the latest products and services, network with colleagues and gain invaluable knowledge at the free seminars. After the success of last year's event, the institution will again be represented with a stand, and will be hosting the Information Exchange morning session on 5 November. 5 November 2009
10-10:30am: Paul Brown , Professional Development and Membership Manager, ICES
Paul will be giving an update on the institution's new royal chartered status and provide an overview on the products and services available for civil engineering surveyors and employers, to help develop skills through the current economic climate.
10:40-11:40am: John McCreadie, Photarc Surveys
John will be give a presentation about a pilot project to develop a speed map for the Lancashire county highway network using video mapping, GPS and inertial navigation techniques.
11:50am-1pm: Jeff Hott, Coastway
Jeff will present on laser scanning surveying and ground penetrating radar technology to provide the full 3D picture both above and below the ground.
