Yorkshire
If you would like to receive emails about events in your region and do not currently do so, please send your email address to ICES HQ.
The autumn breakfast seminars on adjudication and the HGCRA and the importance of records were well attended and the feedback was very positive both in terms of the presentations themselves and the relevance of the subject matters. Thanks very much to Steven Bate of Hammonds LLP and Paul Blackburn of Trett Consulting for giving up their time. Further seminar events are currently being planned.
ICES champions
We are currently in the process of rolling out an initiative for ICES champions. For those businesses with a significant number of ICES members we will be making contact with a view to identifying an individual who will act as a conduit for informing the business of upcoming events and seminars, and who may also be the point of contact to advise the ICES what the business requires of it. Initially this will be rolled out to a few businesses with the largest number of members. The benefits of this will be assessed and if successful the intention will be to roll out to an increasing number of businesses in the region. We will post further information on this on the website, and in the meantime should anyone wish to express an interest in becoming an ICES champion, please contact Paul Bird.
GE committee representative
There is currently disproportionate representation within ICES Yorkshire , such that CM committee members significantly outnumber those of a GE background. For this reason we would like to bolster GE representation, and our effectiveness in meeting the needs of GE members, by inviting expressions of interest from any who are interested in becoming a member of the committee. Please contact Paul Bird who will explain the role and the benefits of becoming a committee member.
Committee on the move
We are continuing our initiative to hold committee meetings and seminars in locations throughout the region to enable more members to attend. We look forward to seeing you at future events.
15 December 2008: Committee meeting, 7pm, Trett Consulting Offices, Leeds
All members are welcome to attend committee meetings, however we would ask that members wishing to attend notify Stephen Jennings no later than the Friday before the meeting. This will allow us to ensure we can accommodate the numbers, and to advise of any changes of date or venue. Any forced changes to date or venue will be posted on the website.
All ICES members are welcome to attend events arranged by the Institution of Civil Engineers. Visit www.ice-yorkshireandhumber.org.uk to find events in your region.
