SURCO Training was established:

To provide structured training for civil engineering professionals at early and mid career levels. |

To provide specialist training at more advanced levels. |
SURCO Training has a current portfolio of 30 modules. Most of these are delivered as workshops or tutorials where delegates learn through active participation. Recent developments include new two day modules for Commercial Awareness (STM 2) and Measurement (STM 29). This latter module has been specifically designed to cater for non-cognate quantity surveyors and others who have not been taught basic measurement and �taking off' skills. The module has also become popular as a refresher course for more experienced practitioners.

Whilst SURCO Training offers a unique opportunity to civil engineering employers by helping them to develop and implement training that is sympathetic to, and supportive of, the Institution's competency requirements for membership, its modules are primarily designed to improve competency in the workplace.
To facilitate this, several of the SURCO modules can be strung together to form, two, three or four day, training courses that follow a particular theme. Such themes could include �The Tendering Process', �Project Procurement' or �The Consequences of Change'.
Most of the training carried out at these levels is delivered on an �in house' basis. Individuals who are interested in such training in support of Institution membership should check whether structured training from SURCO already features in any professional development scheme operated by their employer.

Specialist Training
Our specialist tutors are able to offer advanced training in specific topics. Many of our tutors continue to practise as working authorities in their chosen fields. Specialist training is mostly delivered through lectures or seminars. Training can be arranged either in house or externally at locations and for durations appropriate to the tutor and the topic.
