The company has been advising clients and undertaking survey work since 1867 and has a large archive of material relating to industrial and mining land use. The survey department use modern survey equipment including GPS to undertake small and large land surveys. Modern total stations for urban and building surveys and optical theodolites and levels for underground surveys such as mine workings and tunnels. Setting out of roads, tunnels and civil engineering projects including earthworks is carried out using a wide range of surveying equipment. The survey team use LSS and Autocad to provide the DTM and the plans in paper, DXF or pdf format. The company also provide a professional service for landowners, operators and developers in contaminated land, negotiation of leases and working rights, planning applications and advice, licensing with the relevant authorities and valuation of land. The archive at FGB is especially useful for the contaminated land reports and the design of phase 2 site investigations as the land use can be correlated to the geology and the mining situation. The company have first and second edition geological maps for most of the north of England and the mine abandonment plans for the Yorkshire Coalfield. Further mining information is available for the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Coalfield from the overlays held. The staff offer a wide range of skills which includes mining and civil engineering surveyors, geologists, geotechical, structural and mining engineers. |
