Adjudication Enforcement Mock Hearing (Mark II)

Due to the success of last year's highly acclaimed adjudication seminar, the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) has announced that an updated mock adjudication hearing is to be staged at the prestigious new Parliamentary building, Portcullis House at Westminster on Wednesday 1st October 2003.

The Institution's Disputes Avoidance and Resolution Panel is to host this keynote event, Adjudication Enforcement - The Final Hurdle? Mock Hearing, in association with the joint Commercial Management Board of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and ICES.

Five of the UK's leading construction law professionals will present this mock hearing, addressing the very latest legal issues relating to adjudication enforcement and the potential risks of seeking enforcement by summary judgement. The legal experts will present new issues and new cases.

Acting as Judge and Narrator for the hearing will be Dominic Helps, Partner of legal firm, Shadbolt & Co Solicitors. Dominic specialises in contentious and non-contentious work, both domestic and international. He has experience in drafting building, civil engineering and plant contracts, and consultants appointments. Dominic has also handled substantial arbitration and litigation cases.

Representing the Claimants will be Senior Partner, Simon Tolson and Partner, Christopher Hough both of Fenwick Elliot Solicitors. Simon specialises in construction law. His workload extends across the construction and engineering industries. The majority of his current workload is dispute resolution based with a particular emphasis on adjudications. Simon has been involved in approaching seventy adjudications. Christopher specialises, almost exclusively, in construction matters. He has advised on major contentious and non-contentious matters in the UK and internationally. UK disputes include substantial arbitration, litigation and ADR proceedings concerning offices, motorways, oil platforms and tunnels. Chris is also a chartered civil engineer.

In Defence will be John Rushton, Partner in the Construction and Engineering Group of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw Solicitors and Partner of Baker and McKenzie Solicitors, Jeremy Winter. John is one of the Institution's two honorary solicitors. He has been involved in over seventy adjudications, acting for one of the parties or as the adjudicator or as an adviser to an adjudicator. Jeremy Winter is a Partner of Baker and McKenzie Solicitors with over 20 years` experience in UK and international litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in relation to construction law and infrastructure projects. He is the other honorary solicitor to the Institution.

This seminar is not to missed by commercial management specialists, in particular those involved in construction law. This event is open to anyone who is interested in attending, in addition to members of the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
