Open Invitation to Anglia & Central: In the interest of encouraging ties between our adjoining regions, the committee would like to extend an open invitation to all members of Anglia & Central who might be interested in attending events. It is acknowledged that many of you are geographically close to London and should events be of interest, please feel welcome to attend.

13 September 2006 London Rail Projects Seminar:
A presentation on the forthcoming major rail projects for London including the East London Line Extension Project (ELLP) and Crossrail (Cross London Rail Links) has been arranged, sponsored by CIOB London Branch, RICS, ICE and ICES and will take place at the RICS 12 Great George Street, Parliament Square, London SW1. 6pm registration for start at 6.30pm.

Speakers include Peter Boxell, Head of Communications & Stakeholder Management for the East London Line Project, and Bernard Gambrill, Head of Public Affairs for Crossrail. The projects covered will be the Channel Tunnel Rail Link — now nearing completion and due to open for operational trains in late 2007, the ELLP — which will extend and upgrade the existing (London Underground Limited) East London Line and convert the new metro style (National Rail) train service. This could potentially facilitate ‘orbital’ journeys around London. Phase 1 of the ELLP, which extends the existing line to Dalston Junction, Crystal Palace and West Croydon, will be delivered by June 2010, in good time for the Olympics. Phase 2 will extend the line to Clapham Junction and connect North London Line stations at Canonbury and Highbury and Islington. Crossrail is a joint venture between Transport for London and the Department for Transport. Crossrail is tasked with promoting and developing two new routes through London. If you plan to attend this event, please contact Norma Cook to pre-register (t: 020 8685 9130, f: 020 8685 9128, e: [email protected]). Read more...
