Golf Day
The Eastern and Midlands region of ICES held its inaugural golf day on 19 June 2006. The day, which started with a hearty bacon sandwich, proved to be a great success, with the weather holding out all day.
The competition was very tight, with players from Geldards LLP, Gleeds, SPS Building and Roofing, EC Harris, Alway Associates, Enshall, National Commercial Services and Geoffrey Osbourne Limited, however, it was National Commercial Services who walked in just in front of Enshall to take the claret jug. After a well earned meal, presentations were made to the winners of the nearest pin (Dean Hodges, Gleeds) and the longest drive competitions (Stuart Roberts, National Commercial Services) not to mention the golfer who most enjoyed his day, Simon Smith of SPS Building and Roofing.
The branch would like to forward its thanks to Branston Golf and Country Club for hosting such a great day. Thanks also to the construction and engineering department of Geldards LLP for sponsoring the event and to Wendy Martin of the commercial property department for presenting the prizes.
Members are advised that the second annual golf day will take place in June 2007. Perhaps Tyrone Davies will be passing on the claret jug to a different team?
