Synopsis:
The New Engineering Contract (NEC) was published in 1995 following
the issue by The Institution of Civil Engineers in 1991 of consultation
documents and a first edition in 1993. Its content represents a radical
new approach to forms of contract and it was recommended by Sir Michael
Latham in his report on the construction industry to become the standard
form for construction contracts. As a result a second edition was published
