Engineering Surveying

The application of all or any of the specialisms mentioned below to enable and facilitate civil or other engineering projects together with the application of diagnostic or other measurement techniques and methods. It includes all those survey operations pertinent to the control of position, shape and size, and the subsequent monitoring of elements of the built environment.

The above definitions are based upon those contained in The Establishment of the Profile and Definition of the Geodetic Surveying Profession to meet the requirements of the General Public and the Commission of the European Union published by the Comite de Liaison des Geometres-Experts Europeens in May 1996.
