Members are informed that each region is now making preparations for its Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held in March 2005. About three weeks prior to the AGM you will receive a letter of invitation from the region chairman, an agenda and if necessary a ballot form. Many of you have probably considered offering your services to your region committee but have not done so due to business or personal commitments or possibly you have hesitated due to not knowing what is involved. Region committees work within published guidelines, known as The manual of procedures for the administration of regions' and if you are interested in assisting your region and would like a copy of the manual, please contact ICES and request one. Alternatively, or additionally, speak to your region chairman who will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. Region News From 27 November to 1 December 2004 Paul Brown, ICES Membership Officer, visited Hong Kong and presented ICES Membership and Training Schemes' to 51 prospective applicants at the MTRC auditorium. He also visited the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-informatics at PolyU, Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), KCRC East Rail Extensions from Tai Wai to Ma On Shan projects and Ove Arup's Ngong Shuen Chau viaduct project. On 15 December 2004, 62 members and guests attended the CPD topic Prolongation Costs Claims on Government Contracts' presented by John Molloy FInstCES FRICS, Managing Director of James R Knowles (HK) Ltd, at the MTRC Auditorium The following events will be organised in Hong Kong region: 12 March 2005: Site visit to Route 8 Ngong Shuen Chau Viaduct April 2005: Land Boundary Survey Practice in Hong Kong If any member would like to find out more about region events please contact either the region secretary or chairman.
